Hi, my name is Oluwaseun (Seun) and I am a Ph.D candidate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology, advised by Prof. Yu Cheng. I joined Prof. Cheng’s FUture Networking laboratory (FunLab) in Spring 2021 and have been conducting research in the areas of machine learning in wireless networks, age of information optimization, cloud/edge computing, and AI for science. Most of my papers are published in top-tier IEEE journals and conference/workshop proceedings. In FunLab, our research is FUN! 😃

• May 2025: I was awarded a Student Travel Grant for the 2025 IEEE International Conference on Communications held in Montréal, Canada (See photos).
• April 2025: I passed the PhD comprehensive exam for the Electrical Engineering PhD program at Illinois Institute of Technology.
• January 2025: Our paper titled “Split Federated Learning for AIGC with Resource Cognition in Collaborative Mobile Edge Computing” got accepted in the IEEE ICC 2025 Conference.
• May 2024: Our paper titled “Large Language Model Based Machine Learning Approach for Fake News Detection” got accepted in the IEEE ICMC 2024 Conference.
• April 2024: I participated in the Student Research Poster competition at the 2024 ECE day and won the Best Presentation Award for Ph.D. Research in Networks & Communications as second place.
